Nice nature shot with good composition and painterly feeling which is enhanced by shallow dof IMO. I don't know how you feel about playing with mother nature but I think you'd have a better flow if the center bird (too bad; very nice) were removed to leave a classic V formation. Regards..Hank

Hello, Hank. You make a very valid point about the removal of one crane out of line. Had I thought of it, I'd have cloned him away! Many thanks for stopping by. John.

Hi John, When I first noticed this pic I thought it was Canadian Geese heading south till I read the caption and had to get a closer look. There isn't really a lot in focus in the picture, but I actually like the hazy look of this pic. I like the color behind the trees so they stand out and my eye heads north to see the cranes. I may not be great with words in trying to explain myself, but I think if it was in total focus, it would have been way to sharp. The only thing I don't really like is the big gap of white in the clouds at the top right, if it was a smaller gap like on the left hand side....but that's mother nature. Thanks for sharing a very pleasing picture.

Hi, Judy. I'm glad you mentioned the word "hazy" because that was the feeling I got from this shot, and the moment itself. So your words work well! Yes, I wasn't happy about the gap in the clouds, but there it was. Many thanks for the kind critique. Much appreciated! Best regards. John.

Nice shot. Good colors, nice composition, good capture of the birds in flight. However, the cloud show quite a bit of noise, and the trees are not quite in focus.

Thanks for pointing out the noise, Brad, which I missed on my laptop. The trees, however aren't meant to be in focus. Best regards. John.

Hi Dear John. Like an oil paint. Very nice landscape. Good composition, very nice and soft light, very nice colors. The cranes are migrating and the dark clouds are accompaning them. Vet good. Thanks for sharing. Regards.
