There's a lot to like about this painterly image, with so much natural and rich texture, and I can see why you went for it. But the low contrast/saturation leaves it rather flat, and without depth (I'm afraid these bushes aren't exactly "burning"). The blue/grey of the trees is a great contrast to the hot pinks of the foliage. I like the colors, but the overall effect is too soft for my taste - I keep looking for more detail but not finding it. I hear you, but we're at cross purposes: I think detail works against my impressionistic, painterly purposes here. Otherwise, I could have put the camera on a tripod and shot for a deeper dof. Reply

I think this has potential but you've an awful lot to try to take in without any one really 'snappy' tone, color or grabbing subject(s). You've got low contrast and very mild colors. I'm not saying to oversaturate but I might try adding some contrast for a start. Especially since those bare trees are just that. Nothing to hold much interest up there with no light dynamics. The foreground leaves look almost soft in focus to me and not enough to have a pleasing blur as in your vertical pan shots. Here's what I would do. The central part of the image has some cool, dark branches and a nice mix of various colors of flora. I would crop off most of the top and the bottom and work with that section with some layer adjustments (especially curves, hue/saturation). See what you can do.
